The Library Collection: Winter Rose

Our AW15 Collection celebrates familiar, favourite prints drawn from the Cath Kidston archive and reimagined for the new season. Over the past few weeks we’ve been heading behind the scenes and visiting our Print Library to discover the stories behind some of our favourite updated archive prints. This week, it’s all about Winter Rose.

This classically pretty rose print was first designed for AW07, but AW15 marks Winter Rose’s fourth appearance in our collection, and its boldest look yet. The vintage-inspired design features wild English roses amongst delicate trailing blooms. We’ve given it a quirky, modern new look this season with bold and unusual colours.

For fashion our vivid yellow roses are accented with flashes of orange that pop against a silvery grey ground. Find the print on a classic shift dress (perfect for wearing now with bare legs, and later with tights) and on simple separates that can be worn individually or together, for an on-trend coordinating look. Pick up the bright orange in the print by wearing with red accessories (like our leather bag and trainers, as shown above) or match the yellow and grey shades with Painted Rose or Victoria Rose accessories.

For bags and accessories, Winter Rose has pinky red and pale yellow blooms that lift the dusky oat background. Coloured this way the print feel just right for the season and is oh so versatile. Choose from pretty practical backpacks, bestselling handbags or a piece from our luxe Embossed Collection. Looking for a print pal for your roses? Try classic spots in a complementary berry red or our British Birds in the same shade.

We’ve also a handful of special bags in a rather beautiful, limited edition dusky blue colourway – perfect for fans of our bestselling Trailing Rose.

Sadly this concludes our series of visits to the Print Library…but if you’ve loved learning more about your favourite prints you’ll be happy to hear there are plenty more insights from our Design Studio to come this season, so stay tuned!
