We had very special visitor swing by Cath Kidston HQ this week – the lovely Fearne Cotton! We discovered that Fearne is a fan of the brand when she packed her trusty Thorp Flowers clear rain mac to keep her dry at Glastonbury earlier this year, so we invited her to come and have a nosy around our Head Office. We snapped loads of pics from her tour and we thought we’d share some of her favourites so you can take a little sneak peek behind the scenes too!
The first stop (once Fearne had signed in at reception!) was our Archive Room, where she had fun looking at all the things that have inspired our designs over the past 23 years. Fearne loves vintage as much we do, and pulled out all sorts of gems from our extensive, inspiring collection!
Here at Cath Kidston, every print has a story. We talked to Fearne about what inspired this season’s prints and how they’re developed by our talented designers.
We like to think that our creative process is organised chaos, as we take inspiration from almost everything around us! Here’s Fearne experiencing the design process, from initial inspiration to the beautiful hand-drawn illustrations made by our designers that become finished digital prints.
Next stop was the Blooming Lovely Cath’s Café, where we presented Fearne with cake…and made the happy discovery that pink is her favourite colour! (This blushing Strawberry and Coconut showstopper was baked using a recipe from our Teatime book.)
Just next door is our Mock Shop, which is set up just like one of our real shops and is where we plan our beautiful displays and windows. We’re getting ready for Christmas, so Fearne had the chance to start her Christmas wishlist – cosy flannel PJs and our stunning (pink!) faux fur coat got her vote!
Everyone who works at CK HQ is photographed against a backdrop of one of our unique wallpapers when they first join the team. The snaps appear in our handy “Who’s Who” book, alongside a fun fact about each person, to help everyone get to know each other. We invited Fearne to take part in the tradition, and here’s her rather gorgeous mugshot – snapped with her first-ever selfie stick! And Fearne’s fun fact? When she was 14 and yet to grace our TV screens as a presenter, she was in the studio audience for Live and Kicking and had to pass Richard Branson a phone to answer a caller’s question!
We hope you enjoyed the tour. Thanks to Fearne for coming to visit, stop by and see us again soon!
